Spider Veins (ND:Yag technique)

Before treatment:  In the picture above, Dr. Khan's technician prepares the skin with a thorough cleansing using alcohol.  Dr. Khan then applies a thin layer of cold water-based gel to the skin for comfort and to protect the skin from the heat of the laser.  The laser is equipped with a self-cooling tip set to maximum to keep the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Immediately after treatment:  The end result after Dr. Khan treats the area with the ND:Yag laser.  The veins are permanently damaged and appear smudged.  They do not refill when blanched with the palpating finger.  Indeed, many veins disappear immediately after the laser pulse.  The damaged veins will fade over the subsequent 2-3 weeks with no resulting discoloration.
