Mole on
forehead before excision.
Note: This photo was
taken after local anaesthetic, hence the mole and surrounding
area appears swollen. |
 |
|
Immediately
after excision. The wound edges appear
puckered and thickened due to a special type of
stitch Dr. Khan uses to close it called a "Mattress
Stitch". This stitch takes more time, but gets
much nicer results in that it takes the tension off
the wound edges by everting the edges of the wound.
This results in a less noticeable scar when fully
healed. Excised lesions on the face heal well
since blood flow to the face is rich. Expect
the wound to heal rapidly with near complete fading
of the resulting scar over 6-8 weeks. |
 |
|
After 2 weeks, the
incision has significantly faded.
The scar will
continue to fade over the next 4-6 weeks. |
 |
|
After
4 weeks, the incision has faded even more
and is easily covered
up with a light application of make-up. The
scar will continue to fade and by 4-6 months will in
most cases be nearly unnoticeable. |
 |
|
After
6 months, the incision has faded even more
and is virtually
undetectable. |
