smooth your lines At the right dose, Botox can significantly reduce frown lines, crows feet, laugh lines, and more for several months of lasting results. What is Botox?Botox is a purified protein injected in tiny quantities into muscles to cause them to relax. How long does Botox last?Eventually, your body will metabolize the Botox and the effect wears off - typically after 2-3 months, but when used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) it can last from 3 to 8 months. Injected into selected muscles of facial expression, Botox is extremely effective at reducing wrinkles creating a youthful appearance. With regular use, the wrinkle reducing effects of Botox will last longer - upwards of 4 or 5 months - as the relaxing effect on the muscles is prolonged. Will Botox actually make my wrinkles worse with continued use?No. With discontinued use, normal muscle tone (and of course the wrinkles) will return. Worsening of the wrinkles occurs with ultraviolet radiation from the sun damaging the collagen in your skin - made worse if you don't use an SPF sunscreen on a regular basis (we recommend at least SPF 20 to 30). Is Botox safe?
Botox has been used for over
15 years for the treatment of movement disorders. It
is also used to treat migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
and for cosmetic purposes to safely and temporarily soften
wrinkles. It is a safe, Health Canada approved
treatment.
The cost for Botox injections depends on the area of the
face or body you wish to treat and the number of units
required to achieve the desired results.
* Note that men
require higher doses due to higher muscle mass.
